In times of crisis, anxiety tends to increase and even the calmest people may also start to feel the pressure in the face of the strong buffeting winds. During anxious times, crystals are valuable in helping us to stay grounded and centered. Certain crystals are well known for imparting calming and soothing vibes, and meditating with them or even just holding and rubbing them in the hand can reduce anxiety and enhance a calmer disposition to our being.
While individual needs may vary and certain crystals may only work for certain people, here are some good crystal candidates for calming anxiety:
Amethyst is a stone of spirituality and meditation. The equivalent of an “insomnia buster” for quartz, if there was one. The violet of amethyst is conducive for the Third Eye chakra and the Crown chakra, making it a suitable stone for use during meditation. And in order to achieve higher states in meditation, one would need to be totally calm and relaxed, and this is what amethyst does for you from a practical standpoint.
Black Tourmaline is regarded as a strong protective stone and is often the recommended stone for gridding property. It’s believed to ward off negative entities and also able to absorb negative energy and rendering it harmless. For that reason, black tourmaline should be cleansed often. However, black tourmaline also exudes a strong calming aura, and it’s a great calming stone to hold if one is anxious.
I’ve personally found rose quartz to be a great calming stone. Rose quartz exudes gentle loving energy which has similarities to a mother’s maternal love, and holding and rubbing a polished rose quartz chunk in one’s hand can bring about a tangible calming effect pretty quickly. It is one of the most popular crystals in the world for good reason.
Celestite is not mentioned that often among crystal circles, but it is a really great stone for relieving anxiety. When held, celestite quickly dispels anxious feelings and imparts confidence that the divine watches over us. However, due to its not very durable nature, celestite can easily get scratched or chipped if always handled, but if you don’t care about that, celestite is a very good calming stone.
The energy possessed by kyanite is dynamic and expansive, and it can cut through negativity and anxiety like butter. If you are feeling anxious about a problem that seems insolvable, hold a blue kyanite wand and wave it while visualizing it as a light saber cutting away the tangled knots of your problem, and soon enough your anxiety will be waved away as well.
Blue Lace Agate
Agates in general, all possess a gentle soothing effect, but among all the variants of agate, blue lace agate is perhaps one of the best of the lot in this regard. It is good for communication and social anxiety (blue lace agate is good for when you are preparing to give a public speech and feeling nervous), since it enhances and stimulates the throat chakra, but more than that, the light sky-blue color of this agate helps you maintain a cheerful and calm disposition at all times. Hold/rub a polished palm stone of blue lace agate in your hand and let it melt away your anxiety, reminding you that the sky above will always be sunny and blue.
