Physical Attributes of Aventurine

Aventurine is a form of quartz that has inclusions of mica, hematite, and goethite, with the mica inclusions being the most common, giving it a silvery green sheen. Other colors of aventurine gemstone include colorless, yellow, orange, violet, blue, and brown. The most common color variant by far, is green. Superficially, polished green aventurine may look a bit similar to other minerals, like jade, or green calcite.

Being derived from quartz, aventurine has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, which is considered as very hard. The main locations where it is mined are India, Brazil, China, Germany, and South Africa. Over the years, it has been used as flooring material, statues, sculptures, and as jewelry.

Metaphysical Properties of Aventurine
